Explore with me . . .
What can we learn about the design of life around us, and even the universe, as we look to the body for clues? My question finds me at a somewhat broken place where I have observed a great deal of disconnectedness. But recently I am beginning to observe in those same patterns, a common architecture. I wonder if this sense is real. I want to find design parallels using science, art, philosophy and all the truth traditions as tools. I want my professional life and my personal life to lead me down this path of exploration. At first my entries may not seem to be connecting medicine to deeper questions of design and they may seem broad and far afield. But with time, perhaps years, I hope to approach this question legitimately.

Excellent post Laura and one that provokes contemplation about the correlation between the origins of the Universe and life. I suspect you have your own beliefs and I will enjoy watching them unfold in your images and your writing.
Thank you Steven, for your encouragement.
Laura, looking forward to your views on these very interesting ideas of relating body, mind and spirit to the universe. wow! I’ve always felt we are the smaller versions of the grand universe, somehow.
Thank you Sharon! Your words always offer a poetic recognition of interconnectedness. I am so happy to have connected with you.
Congratulations Laura!
What a wonderful idea! Also, great blog name! Your blog is definitely related to The Sympathetic Web of Nature, which I have discussed with you so many times!
I look forward to reading your blogs and participating in them.
Love, Tom
Tom, I remember you telling me (teaching the American Authors class) your idea about the Sympathetic Web in 1986: that an invisible web connects everything in the universe. I remember thinking, at the time, that I did not disagree. And yet, it didn’t seem relevant to everyday life then. Now, it seems a critical question. I have had such a sense of “strings” recently, and also their relationship to time. Thank you for your kind words and your friendship over all these years.
Love, Laura
