Pelvic Hip Replacement
This illustration depicts a total hip joint (total hip arthroplasty), replaced by a prosthetic implant. Orthopedic surgery is performed to to repair physical joint damage when the hip has been fractured severely, or to relieve pelvic pain. A total hip replacement consists of replacing both the acetabulum and the femoral head.
